CPS Deputy Superintendent Named One of 2016 YWCA Career Women of Achievement

Congratulations to Laura Mitchell, deputy superintendent of Cincinnati Public Schools, on being named one of the 2016 YWCA Career Women of Achievement. She received her award during the annual awards ceremony held May 11, 2016.

Laura Mitchell YWCAThe YWCA credits Mitchell’s “mission to achieve a brighter tomorrow through equity, access and opportunity.” The awards program stated: “As deputy superintendent – academics and accountability for Cincinnati Public Schools, Mitchell has successfully led the School Turnaround Team, providing professional support to principals, teachers and staff to boost performance by 80 percent and move 13 of the 16 lowest-performing elementary schools out of the low-ranking category. She also leads the district’s My Tomorrow initiative, empowering CPS students to turn their dreams, aspirations and strengths into concrete plans for the future.”
