A Saturday afternoon getting out and moving with your family makes for a great day. Fathers living in and around Northside laced up to play some basketball, cornhole or tetherball as a part of the newly-launched All Pro Dads program at Parker Woods Montessori and Chase Elementary School.
All Pro Dads is a program that provides resources and intentional focus to fathers to help them bond with and build character in their children.
“I applaud you for being active and engaged with these teachable moments with your kids,” said Tim Nared, school resource coordinator at Parker Woods Montessori. “We don’t just have ‘all pro dads,’ we have super dads!”
Nared and Ashanti Cade, school resource coordinator at Chase Elementary School, decided to collaborate in establishing the All Pro Dads program so that fathers and students from both schools can get to know each other and create new bonds through active play.
“I was a state trooper for 20 years, so I’ve gone from Z to A, seeing where some kids can end up,” said Nared while addressing the fathers and sons. “If dads are not a part of the process of kids growing up, kids will struggle socially.”
The All Pro Dads program will meet monthly on Saturdays from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. in Northside. The next events are scheduled for March 10, April 14, and May 12, with location TBD.
